SICILY. Katane. Circa 405-403/2 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 14 mm, 1.79 g, 6 h). Head of Silenos, balding, bearded and with pointed ears, to left, wearing wreath of ivy. Rev. KATANAIΩN Bull butting to right; below, fish to left. Basel 340 (this coin). Mirone 97 = Rizzo pl. XIV, 22. SNG ANS -. SNG Ashmolean 1713. Very rare. A very attractive example with a severe and majestic head of Silenos. Light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
